Sibel Kalyoncu graduated from Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics and Department of Chemistry at Boğaziçi University in 2008 with a double major. She had her master's degree from Koc University, Chemical and Biological Engineering in 2010. She completed her PhD studies at Georgia Institute of Technology in the fields of protein biochemistry and structure in 2016. She continued her postdoctoral research in the field of antibody engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Her research projects in the USA have been funded by both the public (NIH, NSF) and industry (Novo Nordisk) grants. In 2018, the researcher returned to Turkey to work at Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center. In her laboratory, she aims to develop therapeutic/diagnostic innovative products based on antibody/protein engineering.
