Prof. Dr. Şermin GENÇ obtained her undergraduate degree from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1992. She completed her doctorate in Medical Biology at Dokuz Eylül University. Since 2015, she has been conducting research on the immune pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases and biomarkers at her laboratory, named Neurodegeneration and Neuroprotection, located at the Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center. One of her primary research areas involves the investigation of Glioma cell-microglia interaction using extracellular vesicles. Dr. Genç has authored over 100 research and review articles, in addition to contributing to more than 10 book chapters. She has received numerous awards, including the Tübitak Incentive Award and the Eczacıbaşı Science Award.
