Erkek Özhan

Serap Erkek Özhan received her B.Sc degree in Chemical Engineering from Middle East Technical University in 2006 and her M.Sc degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Bilkent University in 2008. She completed her PhD studies in 2013 in the field of developmental epigenetics at Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research in Switzerland. After working as a postdoctoral researcher on the epigenetics of pediatric brain tumors at German Cancer Research Center and European Molecular Biology Laboratory during 2013-2017, she started to work as a research group leader at Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center since 2018. Her current research focuses on disease epigenetics, where she employs various omics, computational biology and functional approaches to discover epigenetics signatures characterizing disease, especially cancer.
