Dr. Hasan Bayram completed his medical education at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine and his speciality training in chest diseases at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his doctoral studies in the field of asthma and air pollution at Queen Mary Westfield College, University of London, UK. He conducted his postdoctoral research at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College in the UK. Later, he continued his studies at the Respiratory Research Laboratory established within Gaziantep University.
Dr Bayram's main research interests include the effect of diesel exhaust particles and man-made nanoparticles on airway epithelial cells in respiratory diseases. His ongoing research is aimed at understanding the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of COPD, particularly the role of progenitor/stem cells. He is also investigating changes in the ciliary activity of airway epithelial cells in bronchiectasis and COPD. Dr Bayram is currently an adjunct faculty member at Old Dominion University, Virginia, USA.
