Dr. Cakan Akdogan is a principle investigator at the Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center, leading the Zebrafish Models Lab. She graduated from Bilkent University Molecular Biology and Genetics undergraduate program. Afterwards she obtained her PhD from European Molecular Biology Laboratory and Heidelberg University in 2009. During her postdoctoral studies at DKFZ, Heidelberg she worked on signaling in cell metabolism and Cancer using the Drosophila (fruit fly) model. Dr. Cakan- Akdogan is also the director of the zebrafish vivarium unit at IBG.
